The Waterloo Region District School Board is one of the larger district school boards in Ontario serving approximately 60,000 students in the Region of Waterloo. Our schools provide instruction designed to develop in our junior kindergarten to grade 12 students, the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to provide a solid foundation for living and learning.

We are proud of our staff and their commitment to the learning and development of our students. Many of our staff have been recognized locally, provincially and nationally as the best in their fields.

Our students regularly achieve a wide variety of honours in academics, fine arts and athletics. Our graduates have great success as they pursue further education and rewarding careers.

We value parent involvement in our schools and welcome parents to become active in the local school council. Information about school councils is available and your school can tell you the date, time and place of meetings.

The Board is the largest public employer in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo with approximately 3,500 teaching staff and 2,000 support staff members providing educational programs and services to approximately 60,000 students.

Situated in the heart of Southwestern Ontario, the Regional Municipality of Waterloo is an ideal location in which to live and work. It is approximately an hour's drive from Toronto and Lake Ontario and two hours from the international border.

With more than 500,000 residents living within the Region's seven municipalities (Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich) it is one of the fastest growing areas in Ontario. The foundation of the economy of the Region is a highly developed network of industrial and personal services and a progressive agricultural base.

The Region is an established manufacturing and service centre, featuring such notable companies as Research In Motion, Toyota Canada, Manulife, Open Text and Sunlife.

The Region of Waterloo is also home to the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University and Conestoga College of Applied Arts and Technology.
